Review of Bonsai Boy's Decorative Landscape Pebbles
(Small Grade Size)
The color of the pebbles is a beautiful natural looking brown and they have a bit of smoothness and luster to them.I imagine they would look beautiful under a Bonsai tree, but you only get enough to do one plant. This seems a bit expensive to me, but this is not my hobby area and perhaps this is the going rate.

Review of Desert Rose Plant - Natural Bonsai - Adenium obesum
Click Here to see more reviews about: Desert Rose Plant - Natural Bonsai - Adenium obesum
Product Description:
Desert Rose -Adenium obesumGeneral Information: The Desert Rose is a native of East Africa. It will grow from 6 1/2 to 10 feet in the wild. It has fleshy leaves and beautiful 2-inch pink open-trumpet shaped flowers. It is a succulent, and forms more of a bush than a tree. It makes an excellent house plant or indoor bonsai. Lighting: Needs lots of light and fresh air. Keep in a bright location in winter. In summer, if possible, move outdoors to a sunny or partly shaded location.Temperature: Growing temperature should not be below 54 degrees. However, in the winter, keeping it cool (between 54-61 degrees) whch gives the plant a needed rest.Watering: Needs little water during winter, especially when kept cool. Increase water during growing and blooming periods. The total watering needed is similar to crassula, portulacaria and other succulents, and it will lose leaves if overwatered.Feeding: Monthly during spring and summer with liquid bonsai fertilizer. Fish emulsion is also reported to work well.Pruning and wiring: Style primarily by clip and grow. Do heavy pruning after the plant's rest period. However, it bleeds profusely, so heavy pruning should be kept to a minimum. New shoots can be pruned regularly. The sap is poisonous, so clean hands after pruning, and avoid getting sap into open wounds.Propagation: Similar to jade trees - cuttings need to be dried for 3-4 days before planting in a sand-peat mix.Repotting: Root prune and repot every two years, after the winter rest period, in a mix of 2 parts bonsai soil, 2 parts peat, and one part sand. Can tolerate being pot-bound.

Product Description:
The "General Sherman" is a giant sequoia growing in Sequoia National Park, California, that happens to be the largest living thing on Earth. This tree is 275' tall and its crown spreads 107'. The trunk is more than 26' in diameter. The General Sherman is believed to be 2,500 years old, and weigh more than 1000 tons. John Muir called the giant sequoia "the noblest of a noble race." The giant sequoia is a columnar or cone-shaped tree, losing its lower branches and becoming flat-topped with age. Trees more than 100 years old typically are free of branches to a height of 100' or more. In cultivation, giant sequoias usually grow no more than 60-100' tall and retain their lower branches which may droop down to touch the ground and sometimes take root. The reddish brown bark is very thick (up to 20" thick) and deeply fissured. The bright gray-green leaves are scale-like, sharp-pointed, 1/4" long, overlapping each other, and completely covering the twigs. The egg shaped cones are 3" long, and remain on the tree for up to 20 years. Unlike the related California redwood (Sequoia sempervirens), giant sequoia does not sprout from the roots. The General Sherman is considered to be the largest giant sequoia because of a combination of height, canopy spread and trunk diameter. However, some giant sequoias are closer to 300' tall, and some California redwoods and coast Douglas-firs (Pseudotsuga menziesii var. menziesii), although not as massive as giant sequoias, are even taller.

Review of Bald Cypress 20 Seeds-Taxodium Distichum-Bonsai/Outdoor
Click Here to see more reviews about: Bald Cypress 20 Seeds-Taxodium Distichum-Bonsai/Outdoor
Product Description:
What a fantastic bonsai! Small fine leaves spiral around stems, and the truck of reddish-brown fibrous bark can be absolutely stunning. It is pyramidal when young, but as it matures it gets horizontal branches. Leaves are sage green in summer, then russet or soft brown to orange-brown in the fall. It is deciduous, so it loses its needles in the fall. This cypress gets 1"-2" cones. When grown outside as a full-size tree, it can get 50' to 100' tall and 20' to 30' wide. It gets cypress knees when grown in or near water. Cypress also makes a good street tree because it has easy autumn cleanup. Hardy in zones 4-9; Deciduous; Growth rate is moderate; Requires sun, but is tolerant of a variety of soils (wet, dry, compacted).

Review of Japanese Pagoda Tree 10 Seeds - Sophora - Bonsai -SALE*
In 10 days (Aug 2 - Aug 12) I noticed that all of the seeds in the cotton balls had already started germinating which was surprising because the note that was included with the seeds indicated "MAY BE SLOW GERMINATING".I checked the ones in soil and all but one germinated.(That was probably my fault because I accidentally damaged the seed a week prior when I noticed that the husk was molding.)So of the ten seeds I received nine germinated, which is a surprising rate.I'm not an expert on Japanese Pagoda propagation so this may, in fact, be the normal success rate.
The husks of the seeds in the soil all developed mold while none developed in the cotton balls. The mold did not interfere with germination but is an unsightly fuzzy, greenish mold you usually find on old bread.
Here's what the note that was included stated if anyone is wondering:
"JAPANESE PAGODA TREE - SOPHORA JAPONICA
SOW JUST BELOW THE SURFACE IN A HIGH QUALITY SEEDING MIXTURE. PROVIDE TEMPERATURES OF 72F OR HIGHER. KEEP EVENLY MOIST & PROVIDE LIGHT & HIGH HUMIDITY.MAY BE SLOW GERMINATING[.]"
With all but one seed having germinated the seeds that were sent were of excellent quality which is what Hirt's provided. What happens with the Japanese Pagoda seedlings is now up to me.

If you have a lot on your hands you can just do what I do with 'em: Toss them in a mixture of ground black pepper, minced garlic, onion, basil and olive oil and then sun dry them or dry them in a dehydrator. They turn out very crisp, yummy and bursting with flavour. Then they can be eaten as a snack or you can save them in a bottle to put on top of pizzas or toss into any Italian dish you're making.
